Gamespot’s QA Session

Overall pretty fun reading the WBIE part, but this did sort of conform Zero’s and my ideas about how the deal would work: the same way as SWG. WB (and the Wachowskis through it) keeps creative control (in practice, over large stuff and events), just like LA does. SOE’s in charge of day-to-day stuff, support, and actually developing the game.

“More then 25″ (guessing 26 from previous reports) guys from Lith will be working for SOE now, who and their positions, we don’t know.

Honestly, the way they’re approaching MxO is strange to me. It is, quite simply, another MMO to me. The addition of a LET (with a pretty cool story) makes the game fun, and is a great concept for story development in an MMO, but again The Matrix universe, while interesting, is something that doesn’t excite me much. (I still love having discussions about it beacuse it is so raw, unlike SW that has very little left to discuss outside of canon and vast 1000-year nebulas.) This is what I’m getting at:

GameSpot: Where is there overlap with current Sony MMO gamers? Any?

John Smedley (Sony Online Entertainment president): We feel that people who are playing our games are, more likely than not, fans of The Matrix. We’re sure that by adding the game to Station Access our fans will be very interested in checking it out.

Uh huh… yeah. So make the core game better and people will come to it beacuse it’s a high quality MMORPG, not beacuse of nebulous attributes like a universe.
