Ability Conversion Botched

Well, they officially didn’t add in a way to deal with abilties at launch.

I know this has been a question and, frankly, it’s mostly a case of what we published before we had a “real” version of CR2.0 coming back to haunt us after we saw the reality.

Under CR2.0, not many Abilities were completely removed and not many new critical ones were added. Most Abilities either got converted to CR2.0 or were “swapped-out” with new ones. In those cases, no one loses anything.

However, we do need to help you get rid of the disabled Abilities, along with the Zen Master Abilities. After speaking with the team, it appears we do have a plan that we will implement in a hotfix (hopefully early next week).

After we have a chance to create and implement a hotfix, Vendors will buy Abilities for their base value plus the amount of $Information it cost to get them to the levels they’re at when sold (if levelable). This not only gives you an opportunity to get rid of disabled Ability codes, but also get rid of branches you no longer plan to use.

In addition, for a limited time, we will increase the frequency that red frags drop in the world. We will need to nail the dates down, but expect the period to begin when we apply the hotfix and to cover at least two weekends. This is, frankly, easier for us to do than to try to give back the correct red frag for each Ability that could be turned in. It also gives you a chance to collect red frags you need for other Abilities.

gain, it will likely be next week before we will be able to create, test, and apply the hotfix. We apologize for the delay, but will get the buyback process started as soon as possible.

Well… way. To. Go.

I’m not even bothering with MxO until they add that hotfix. Probably just log-in, take some screenshots and write some guides on the boards.

Yay.

Ok… so I blame Kyo.

Yeah the whole guide thing went down the tube because of:

The first being at fault because it fucking rocks (but under closer examination is flawed), the second because she fucking rocks, and the last because it fucking blows but Kyo wanted to play it so :P (kidding mind you).

After we got Xfire In-Game working, so as to get around the game’s asstastic chat filter and disabled Windowed mode. We were able to like… talk. For an example of the chat filter: if a long, well thought out message contained the words, “as such” the entire message would get nuked because the chat filter sees “as s…” as “ASS” so it kills it. Also, at least on her machine, RFO + Teamspeak = me cutting up, so good thing Xfire In-Game works.

I’m still downloading the client off of FilePlanet but log sorta goes like:

[01:56] alynna: this is alot like RO
[01:56] Cal: but 3D
[01:57] alynna: RO was 3d, with sprites.
[01:58] Cal: ok then: 3D in the modern way, not in the FFV way
[01:59] Cal: you know… you starved the MxO community from very long and dry tree guides? how do you sleep at night?
[01:59] alynna: lol

The pot popping (say that three times fast (although in your defense, I can hardly say it once slowly)!) is similar to RO, so I can sort of see where she doesn’t find it quite as “offensive” as I do.

Then again… I’ve been reading too much F13, The Cesspit, with a bit of Lum on the side so… you can forgive me for being waaaaaaay too cynical about things.

Still, I’ve “learned” a lot from reading through their archives, most of which makes my feeble attempts at categorizing the genre look, well, to put in Skaald’s words, “You did pretty good… for a kindergartner.” I was intending to write about it (since I’ve been reading a lot of over the weekend) but, reference the above three as to why I haven’t.

Still, as something useful, I cleaned up the “pages” so as to look less stupid and spruced up the links section (I can’t believe I used the word “spruce”…).

Finally…

Yogurting!

Wrecking guilds

Wrecking guilds.

Was linked to this article from the WoW boards, kind of sums up all the problems with DKP.

I mean, we’ve done a ton of the instances in the HK series over the past six months or so, and never had a problem with loot, it was just “if you want/need it, roll for it”. The most complex thing we did when we first started was sort of define who “needed” what, and if you already had a weapon, you’d pass on it. Zero, Skaald, Kreamy and I did a couple Mara runs (or SM runs, a few levels back) and Skaald and I would just roll on something if we both needed it.

Did we care of this was Ruso’s first time doing HK and the cloak dropped? Nope.

I just really have to agree where the hardcore leadership just decided to rig a system so they could get all their shit, and every leadership group since decided, “Hey, it helped those guys get all their shit, we should use it to!”

That’s why I’m glad that Legion (with whatever damn name it uses in a game) has always been able to get things done with the guys we have, and in WoW (with the next patch) we’ll be able to do it there (go go Tier .5 sets + PvP stuff).
