I finally fixed the broken CommentLuv image in the sidebar. In part because I remembered that World of Matticus uses it and that I could maybe download the file from them and just host it locally. A few pokes around their directory structure and all fixed. This wouldn’t usually be worth an update by itself (and it still isn’t), but it’s been broken for a long time!

Also, I caught the tail-end of a Michael Sandel lecture on John Rawls regarding “Redistributing wealth to help the disadvantaged.” (or so says the KLCS program guide) today. I was moved to much pacing and thinking of the deep thoughts and I would write about said thoughts at length but, uh…

(The subject of my un-novel deep thoughts was mostly about how the arbitrariness of personal attributes and circumstances affects my understanding of allocating “myself” in a (strong) Pareto-optimal fashion and my need for that in the first place. Then I got stuck in a rabbit-hole trying to show that my need to be Pareto-efficient leading me to say, do activism, made/makes me inherently weaker at that (relative to someone with an similar set of attributes and skills) than someone driven to it because of… empathy, or something. Bleh.)

Good thing that Sydney J. Harris quotation (or ironically enough, one eerily similar to it) has been seared into my brain for ages, huh?

Finally, for disclosure’s sake: I stole “think deep thoughts” from Scott Jennings.

Whenever we arrive at some impasse in a campaign, Sean (our campus’ organizer) will say, “Well, we can quit, or we can work really hard to get this thing done.” Of course, because I feel whatever we may be working on is important, I’ll go with the later.

When it’s something personal though, I ask myself the same sort of question (I’m lame like that)… and usually arrive at the former.

(While I’d love to end which such a concise phrase, I really don’t mean anything negative by that statement. Just… I sorta do some (very) crude utilitarian analysis and personal stuff usually comes up short. Well, that’s not entirely true either, since I can sit and play EVE all day and that doesn’t benefit anyone, but it also doesn’t require much work. So it’s not strict utilitarianism relative to absolute actions, but more towards unit effort.

I guess…

Apparently, the fine folks at EOP&S don’t have me in their system, which means I got here early for nothing. Not just that, I can’t even make an appointment for my (required) counselor visits.

Also that I’ll be making mildly angry calls for like the rest of the week.

(Just off the bat, I don’t meant to be cryptic at first, but succinct.)

I don’t like the quiet. It lets me think of her… or the myriad other things I regret.

That’s really as both profound and lacking in angst as you’re going to get out of me, sorry. Anyway, I’d update more, but I’m horrendously boring… and angsty (probably). Also, college, but yeah, mainly the boring.

Oh, that useful thing: WoW Reputation Calculator (it’s really awesome, seriously). Just type in your name, server, and region and it auto-magically tells you how many instance runs/quests/days worth of daily quests you need to hit your next rep level. (from WOW Insider)

And hopefully my desire for analytical writing (about things that are fun, term paper subjects can die in grease fires for a few months) can return. Right now, I just want to listen some Nightwish (Who are playing at two local House of Blues late this year, well… the sort of local one in Hollywood and in Anaheim, which isn’t local at all. Funny how living in the cancerous growth that is greater Los Angeles distorts your sense of distance.) and maybe heal the way to victory in Arathi Basin.

Also, as a side note… Armory + WordPress is apparently too much AJAX for one browser to handle *sigh*.

I sort of took it upon myself to organize and clean-up our TeamSpeak channels a few servers ago. A while back Kyo got me started making dumb acronyms like OMG (Oscar Mike Golf) or NERF (November Echo Romeo Foxtrot) (using the ICAO Alphabet) out of our Meeting Room/Mission Team names.

Being the sappy motherfucker that I am, I’ve lately been doing ones like MISH (or up until 10minutes ago when I got out of bed to do this, BYE)… well since Kyo actually didn’t get a chance to see that last one (she didn’t come back on after she told me she was moving and such), I changed it something a bit more appropriate, that hopefully she might see soon .

Yes, I am a corny bitch, sue me.
